Gulf Atlantic Airways, Inc. dba University Air Center was founded in 1981 and is the longest standing business on the GNV airfield.

UAC operates a Part 135 charter airline, a Part 141 flight school, a Cessna and Cirrus certified aircraft maintenance department, a Part 145 Avionics repair station, and a Garmin avionics dealership. UAC’s fleet of 18 aircraft includes Citation CJ3+, Ultra and SP jets, an Eclipse, an Aztec multi-engine, and Cirrus, Cessna and Piper pistons. Additionally we manage two Cessna Grand Caravans for LifeSouth Community Blood Center and partner with Tier One to offer helicopter training.

We attribute UAC’s success to our guiding principle:

We take care of our people; our people take care of our customers; our customers take care of the bottom line. We embrace excellence at all levels and we hold each other to the highest standards of safety, service and delivery. Doing right by our team drives every decision we make. That is why we are strong and why we are successful.

We pride ourselves in being a vital community asset. Our Charter team flies roughly 1,500 medical missions each year. The majority of these missions support human organ transplants, however we have the capability to convert two jets to air ambulance mode and that allows us to comfortably transport some of the sickest patients in need of specialized medical care. We also support the safety and availability of the Southeastern US blood and tissue supply by staffing and managing LifeSouth’s blood planes.

Our flight school grows the careers of future pilots, and our Maintenance team is trusted by both commercial and private pilots alike to keep their planes in top running form. Additionally, we serve the commercial, military, and general aviation communities providing fuel and line services on a 24/7/365 basis and pumping more than 4.1 million gallons of fuel annually. In short, we impact lives in a positive way each and every day and we are extraordinarily grateful to do so.

Dr. Mike and Judy Lukowski purchased the company from its founder in 1989 and they have successfully owned and operated it ever since. Mike is a retired physician and a savvy entrepreneur. He has been flying since 1987 and holds an ATP, CFI, and 4 Jet Type ratings.

Mike actively serves UAC as CEO and Director of Flight Operations. Dr. Zach Lukowski, Mike and Judy’s youngest son, joined UAC full-time as President in 2023. In addition to being a board certified retina surgeon, Zach holds an MBA from the University of Georgia and he is a wise leader with a clear vision for the future. UAC’s Leadership Team is eleven strong and has a combined 220+ years of experience and an unparalleled passion for delivering our mission.
